# AI Extension Builder: the agent tests your sections and can create your app's database

Since November 4, the agent in the “Create with AI” section of the AI Extension Builder tests your sections in a real browser before handing them back to you. It asks you a question when a choice is yours to make, and it can create your app's database. The studio also gets a new interface.

## A poll, from request to section

Take a sports club that wants its members to choose the date of its tournament. In its [Create with AI](https://www.goodbarber.com/extensions/ai-extension-builder/) section, it writes: “Add a poll to choose the tournament date, with the results.”

The agent first reads the app's context: its palette, its fonts, its logo, the files already added. It looks up GoodBarber's design system, written by our designers. Then it writes the section's files.

The votes have to be shared between all the members. The agent spots this and asks the question, with three answers:

- **Create the app's database**: one database, run by GoodBarber. Its tables start empty.
- **[Connect my Supabase](https://www.goodbarber.com/blog/ai-extension-builder-add-a-supabase-database-to-your-app-a1550/)**: the data goes to the club's Supabase project.
- **Cancel**: the agent builds the section without a database, and each phone sees only its own votes.

The club picks the GoodBarber database. The agent then opens the section in a browser, at the width of a phone, and tries its buttons. It looks for errors: a script that crashes, a broken image, text that runs off the screen. It fixes what it finds, then saves the section.

The members vote, and everyone sees the results. Each member can change only their own vote.

## What changes from the old engine

With [the old engine](https://www.goodbarber.com/blog/the-ai-extension-builder-now-runs-on-gpt-6-luna-a1623/), a section's code showed up in your preview without having been tested. Now the agent tests it in a browser before saving it.

| Questions | Before the code was written, then at the end | As soon as a choice is yours to make |

## Your app's design, applied by the agent

No need to apply your app's beautiful design yourself: the agent has a tool for that. Before choosing the styles of a section, it reads GoodBarber's design system.

There it finds the text sizes, the spacing, the corner radii, the shadows and the role of each color. It also sees how an app screen is put together, and when to use each of its components. It applies all of it with your app's palette and fonts.

That is how the club's poll takes on the style of the rest of its app.

## It asks you when the choice is yours

The agent settles on its own what it can settle, then tells you what it chose. When a choice changes the section and it cannot make it for you, it asks you a question. You pick one of the suggested answers, four at most, or you write your own. It carries on with your answer.

If the section needs to call an outside service, a weather API for example, the agent declares its domain and waits for your approval. If you decline, it builds the section without it.

If that API needs a key, the agent asks you for it in a secure field, never in the conversation. An answer that looks like a key or a password is not passed on to the agent. The agent only knows the names of your keys.

The studio also reminds you of one rule: anyone who opens the app can trigger these calls with your key. Provide a key limited to this use.

## The GoodBarber database: shared data, no account to open

![](https://cmsphoto.ww-cdn.com/superstatic/41269/art/grande/98605235-68813500.jpg?v=1793871148.148728)

A poll or a leaderboard: as soon as a section shares data between your users, the agent offers to create your app's database. There is one per app, run by GoodBarber. You don't open an account with any database provider.

Every user of the app reads its data, and each one changes only what they added. So don't store private information in it. Your users don't need an account to write to it.

When the agent tests the section, its writes are refused: your data stays as it is.

Does your app already use Supabase? Its sections on Supabase stay there. For the new section, you keep your project, or you create the GoodBarber database: the app's new sections will use it too.

Before a change that affects data already saved, the agent shows you what it touches: the tables, the number of entries, the other sections that read this data. You approve, or it adapts the section so that it works without this change.

## You see what it does, at every step

Expect more than a few seconds: the agent writes, tests and fixes before handing control back to you. The loading card tells you what it is doing at that moment: reading the app's context, writing a file, opening the section in a browser. While it works, you can open the Code view and read the files, read-only. Editing comes back at the end.

If the agent can't get to the end, it tells you, and nothing is changed: your current version stays in place.

Every version is kept. Ask to go back: the agent offers you the version, and you confirm. For a section on the GoodBarber database, you choose what comes back: the code and the structure, with your data left as it is, or the data as it was too, if its copy is less than 15 days old.

## A redesigned interface

The studio takes on the look of your back office, light or dark. On a large screen, the preview appears in a phone and the conversation floats above it, in a card you move by its header. On a screen 1,024 pixels wide or less, the conversation becomes a drawer at the bottom of the screen.

The [paperclip](https://www.goodbarber.com/blog/ai-extension-builder-upload-your-own-files-a1546/) in the input bar adds files at any time, a photo or a logo for example. Drag them into the window or browse your computer, then mention them with @ in your request.

## What your users see

A section shares its data without you having a service to plug in: a vote shows up in the results of every user.

## Try it on your app

Open a “Create with AI” section in your back office and describe what you want: a poll, a leaderboard, a page with your shop's promotions. The AI Extension Builder is free for Content and eCommerce apps. New to the builder?
