The school and the family get their confirmation emails right away. If Lea loved it, her mom then sends in the registration form. ### Camille and Julian are getting married in July They want to open the dance floor with a waltz without staring at their feet. In April, they book a first one-hour private lesson in the "Wedding dance" section, on a Thursday evening, with the wedding date and their song in the form. They book the next ones one at a time, through the spring. ### Ines, 14, dances in teen jazz The account her parents created is assigned to the "Teen jazz" group. [Start for free](https://www.goodbarber.com/create/) ## Trial classes and wedding dance lessons get booked ### One trial section per style, one section for couples, and a single form for everyone Create one trial section per style, "Ballet trial", "Jazz trial", "Hip-hop trial", open only at the times of classes that can take one more beginner. Each slot can be taken only once, so each class gets at most one student on trial. Alongside, the "Wedding dance" section offers one-hour private lessons in the evening. There's only one booking form across the app's sections: it asks everyone for age and level, and leaves the wedding date and the first-dance song optional. On the Thursday of the recital dress rehearsal, one event in his calendar is enough: that evening, couples no longer find a single slot. Each lesson booked is added to his calendar, with the wedding date and the song in the description. His Monday and Wednesday group classes are never open in his section: couples only see his Tuesday and Thursday evenings. ![](https://portalresize.ww-cdn.com/beautifull_pict/v1/680x541/50x50/6/92/img/1724739093855_31/booking_ia_bloc4.png) ## Back to class in three steps For year-round classes, nobody books: registration comes in through a Form, and the school places each student. 1. 1 ### Late August, the registration form Open for a week, it asks for age, style, level, possible days, a parent's phone number and, if your school requires one, a photo of the medical certificate in a file field. An email flags each application, and the CSV export is the starting point for your group lists. 2. 2 ### The school places each student You sort new students by age and level, as you do every year. Families create an account in the app; in the back office, you put each one in their group: "Pre-ballet 4-5", "Ballet 2", "Adult hip-hop". 3. 3 ### Each group sees its schedule Its section, reserved for members, shows the day, time, studio and teacher, then the year's announcements. A class moved for a rehearsal at the theater? The notification goes only to that group's families. Appointment booking gives each slot to a single booking, while a jazz class has fifteen students: year-round classes aren't booked there. Group membership is what opens the right section. ## The year-end recital, in the app ### Rehearsals, group by group Extra rehearsals in May and June, the dress rehearsal on the theater stage the day before: each group only sees its own, in its section. ### The costume list Tutu, skin-tone tights, white sneakers, the group T-shirt: what the school provides, what families buy or sew, and the date of the fitting. ### Backstage call time Little ones at 5:30 pm for the first half, teens at 7 pm: each group knows its time and which stage door to use. ### Hair and makeup High bun, no jewelry, no nail polish, light makeup: a photo of the bun you expect saves ten messages the night before the show. ### The venue and parking The theater on the map, the stage door, the parking lot parents should use on recital night, and directions in one tap. ## Dance school: questions before building the app **### Can parents book a spot in the Wednesday class?** No. The Wednesday class comes through fall registration: the Form, then the spot the school assigns. An Appointment booking slot takes just one booking, so a class of fifteen children could never fill up there. **### How should we run the September trial classes?** Open one section per style, only at the times of classes ready to welcome a beginner: Wednesday at 2 pm for ballet ages 6 to 8, Saturday at 11 am for hip-hop. A three-week booking window and 24 hours' minimum notice are enough: the teacher knows the day before who's coming. After September, keep these sections for students who join mid-year. **### A couple wants ten lessons for their wedding dance: how do they book them?** Lesson by lesson: the app doesn't create a series of bookings or count down a package. The couple books their first lesson, then the next one as the weeks go by, on a Tuesday or Thursday evening. Set the booking window of the "Wedding dance" section to six months: summer couples often start in the spring. The ten-lesson package is paid at the school, outside the app. **### How do I send the rehearsal schedule to just the group concerned?** Post it in the group's section, which only that group can see, then alert the group with a push notification, right away or scheduled for Sunday evening. Hip-hop families don't get the ballet one. This takes two extensions, Authentication and User groups, both included in the Pro plan. **### Can we sell recital tickets in the app?** No: the app doesn't sell tickets, and Appointment booking handles neither seats nor payment. Announce the recital in the Agenda with the date, venue, curtain time and how to get tickets: at the school's front desk, or through the ticketing service you already use. **### Can I film the choreography so students can practice?** Yes: film the routine in rehearsal, from behind if you can, so students don't have to flip left and right, and put the video in that group's section. Since the section is reserved for the group, only its students see it. The week before the recital, everyone reviews their routine in their living room. **### Does the app handle tuition and fees?** No: annual registration fees, term tuition and payment follow-ups stay in your software or spreadsheet, and families keep paying at the front desk or by transfer. What the app does is take registrations, let families book trials and private lessons, and keep each group informed.
