[See all prices](https://www.goodbarber.com/pricing/content/) ## Dental practice app: frequently asked questions **### Which app should a dental practice choose?** An app in the practice's name on the App Store and Google Play that brings together your aftercare instructions, your videos, your fees, your announcements and, if you wish, appointment booking, with no third-party service to add. GoodBarber has built these without code since 2011. The app is not practice management software, though: no patient records, no X-rays, no insurance claims, no billing. **### What is a dentist allowed to publish in their app?** The same as on the practice website: the app is a communication medium, subject to your regulator's advertising rules. In the UK, the General Dental Council expects advertising to be legal, decent, honest and truthful, and the ASA's CAP Code applies. Present your team, treatments, fees, hours and aftercare advice, and keep health content evidence-based. Check your regulator's rules before publishing patient reviews, before-and-after photos or offers: France, for one, forbids testimonials and promotional offers from dentists outright. **### Are appointments booked in the app health data?** Treat them as such: knowing that someone sees a dentist already says something about their health. In the EU and the UK, this is special-category data under the GDPR; in the United States, it can be protected health information under HIPAA; France also requires a certified health-data host (HDS), which GoodBarber is not. GoodBarber's terms leave it to you to check that the service fits the rules that apply to you. If those rules call for a certified host, keep your certified booking platform and add a section in the app that links to it. Either way, do not ask for medical history or documents in the app. **### What goes on the Emergencies page?** What to do until the patient is seen, the practice's number, which calls in one tap, and the after-hours dental emergency contact for evenings, weekends and public holidays. If you keep emergency slots, a dedicated booking section only shows the day's slots. **### Can patients book with the dentist of their choice?** Yes, if you turn on Appointment booking: each practitioner has their own sections, one per appointment type, linked to their Google Calendar. Patients choose the practitioner and the appointment type, then an open slot. Each slot takes a single booking, and each booking triggers a confirmation email, to the practice and to the patient. **### How much does a dental practice app cost?** A native iOS and Android app starts with the Premium plan; Appointment booking is added, and the Pro plan includes it. The Standard plan, limited to the web app, does not offer Appointment booking. Hosting, notifications and updates are included; developer accounts are paid directly to Apple and Google. **### Does the app replace my practice software or my booking platform?** No. It does not connect to your dental software, and appointments booked with Appointment booking go into Google Calendar. If you keep your booking platform, a section of the app can link to it. **### Does the app send a reminder before the appointment?** Not automatically: each booking triggers a confirmation email, to the practice and to the patient.
