# Handyman app: customers book an hour or half a day and list the jobs waiting for you

## Your customers see what you take on and what you leave to other trades, book the time their list calls for and tell you ahead of time whether the supplies are waiting.

Your handyman business in its own app, made without code and running on iPhone, Android and the web: three bookable lengths on one calendar, the job list attached to every booking, the limits of your trade and your terms on materials.

## "What I do, what I don't": the first page to publish

### Flat-pack furniture assembly

Wardrobes, beds, dressers and desks, still boxed or already unpacked; a full kitchen, countertop cutouts and all, is a conversation of its own.

### Wall mounting

Shelves, curtain rods, mirrors, a TV bracket: the anchor depends on the wall, drywall, brick or concrete, which is why the booking asks about it.

### Caulking and sealant

Around the tub, shower or sink: the old, moldy bead comes out, the surface gets degreased, and the new one cures for a day before it sees water.

### Small repairs

The door that sticks, the knob that spins without catching, the drawer off its slides, the toilet seat to swap out.

### What goes to another trade

Panel work and new circuits, gas, a major leak, the roof: the page says plainly who to call instead, an electrician, a plumber or a roofer.

### The tools that come with you

Drill, driver, level, stepladder, bits and common anchors ride in your toolbox; the shelf or the rod itself counts as a supply.

## Customers book hours, then write their list

### A length, a time slot, then the job list and the question of materials

Customers pick one hour, two hours or half a day to match their list, then a start time. Next, in the paragraph field of the booking form, they spell out the jobs: "assemble a wardrobe, hang two shelves, recaulk the tub." Three short lines follow: are the screws, anchors and instructions on hand, which floor, where to park the van. You each get a confirmation email, and their answers are written into the event on your Google Calendar. If two hours clearly won't cover it, you email them before heading over.

## The hour and the half day, on one calendar

### Three sections on a single Google Calendar: what's booked in one closes in the others

A section runs on one slot length only, so open three, "1 hour," "2 hours" and "Half day," all linked to your Google Calendar. Mrs. Parker takes Tuesday morning as a half day: that morning's hours vanish from the other two sections; the other way around, a customer who booked 10:30 to 11:30 takes that half day off the table. Morning hours of 8:30 to 12:30 and afternoon hours of 2 to 6 make the lengths fit exactly: each half day holds two 2-hour slots, or four 1-hour ones. No drive time gets added between two customers; the lunch break covers it, and splitting your hours creates more gaps.

### A month's worth of jobs

An 80-year-old customer keeps a list on the fridge door: the living room curtain rod, the closet door that sticks, the moldy caulk, two frames to hang. She books half a day and copies her list into the form: you show up with the plane, the caulk gun and the hooks.

### Moving in on Saturday

The new renter booked his Saturday afternoon the day he signed the lease, three weeks ahead. In the form: a flat-pack bed, wardrobe and desk, a fourth-floor walk-up, concrete walls, anchors not bought yet.

### Between two tenants

A landlord has five days between leases. He books half a day to patch the anchor holes, reattach a baseboard and lubricate the basement lock, and notes in the form where to pick up the keys.

## One list, one length, one slot

Set up your three lengths and your first mornings: the app is yours to try for 30 days, free, with no credit card.

The day before

### The customer's checklist, before you arrive

Describe it in one sentence to the AI Extension Builder: "a checklist to tick before the job: furniture unboxed, instructions and screws out, a clear path to the room." It becomes a section of your app. Whatever gets ticked stays on the customer's phone and never reaches you; you just walk in to find the box already open.

Before booking

### "Do you assemble kitchens?"

The Chatbot answers from the articles in your app, starting with the one on what you do and don't do, and names its source. "Do you bring a ladder?" "Can you mount a TV on drywall?" You write each answer once. It never books a slot on the customer's behalf.

Monday morning

### This week's openings, announced by your assistant

With MCP, installed by default, Claude or ChatGPT can act in your app. From the job site, you type: "publish an article saying I still have Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, then send a push to everyone." The article and the notification get drafted; nothing goes out until you give the word.

## Handyman app: the questions handymen ask

**### How does a customer know whether they need an hour or half a day?**

From guidelines you post on a page in the app, since the booking screen describes no service and shows no price: a shelf, one hour; a flat-pack piece and two wall mounts, two hours; five or six small jobs, half a day. If they're unsure, they send you their list through the Form, with a photo if needed, and you tell them which length to book.

**### What if their list runs longer than the time booked?**

You'll know before you leave: the list is in the booking email and on your calendar. Give the customer a heads-up: they keep their two hours for the essentials, or you cancel the slot and they rebook a longer one; the cancellation reaches them by email. Whatever's left becomes the list for next time.

**### Who buys the materials, the customer or me?**

You set the rule and the app displays it: supplies bought by the customer, or bought by you and billed with the receipt. The booking form then asks it in one line ("Do you already have the shelf, the screws and the anchors?"), so before you leave, you know whether you need a stop at the hardware store, and for what.

**### A customer asks me for electrical or plumbing work: what now?**

Your limits page has already answered: panels, new circuits, gas, major leaks and roofs belong to another professional, whose number you can share. If a booking still includes a job like that, you'll spot it in the email: call the customer before you go.

**### Can my customers pay in the app?**

No. Booking takes no money, no deposit and no payment: you get paid as you do today, once the work is done. List on a page in the app what an hour costs and what you add for travel, so customers know ahead what their half day comes to.

**### Can a customer book for their mother?**

Yes. The form asks for the job address and the phone number of whoever will be home: the son books from his place, you ring his mother's doorbell. The confirmation email lands in the son's inbox, and he's the one who can cancel; his mother gets nothing, so a call the day before lets her know.

**### Does the customer get a reminder the day before?**

No: no reminder and no text message go out before your visit; the only email they got was the confirmation, which also lets them cancel. To tell everyone something, like your Christmas break, a push notification can be set up in the back office for the date you pick; for one specific customer, the phone is still your tool.
