## Twenty minutes in the parking lot before the first ride

### Customers who have never ridden a scooter book their practice ride

Starting up, easing on the throttle, braking with both hands, turning at walking pace around two cones: the practice ride lasts 20 minutes in the shop's parking lot, and it often settles the choice between a 50cc and a 125cc. Customers book it in the app, in a slot that belongs to them alone: no other beginner is booked at the same time. The form asks whether they have ridden a two-wheeler before, which license they hold and which engine size they have in mind. You'll find their answers in the confirmation email, which reaches both of you, and in the details of the Google Calendar event.

## Morning practice rides, before the rentals head out

### Two time ranges a day from April to October, closed on windy days

Open the section from 8:20 to 10 am, which fits five practice rides before the rented scooters leave the lot, then from 2 to 3 pm, when the heat empties the roads. The time ranges go in at the start of April and come out at the end of October, in step with the shop. On a morning of high winds, close the day: that day's practice rides are cancelled, and each customer gets an email. Alone at the counter one Tuesday? An event in your Google Calendar closes those slots.

## Your terms, read before customers come in

### License by engine size

What you require to ride a 50cc and a 125cc, according to the rules in your country, and the document to show at the counter.

### Minimum age

An age for each model and, if you set one, for passengers: anyone too young finds out at home, not at your door.

### Helmets, provided or not

Included with the rental or bring your own, the sizes you stock, disposable liners, and a second helmet for whoever rides on the back.

### Deposit: at the shop, not in the app

The amount, how it's left (cash, check or card hold) and when it comes back; the app states it but never collects it.

### Roads that are off-limits

If your terms rule out dirt tracks or the path down to the cove, say so, along with the route you suggest for a beginner.

### The couple who have never ridden

They rent one scooter for two. The one who'll ride has booked the 9:20 practice ride, while her partner learns where to put his feet as a passenger. Twenty minutes later, she feels at ease on the 50cc, which is plenty for the small roads along the shore.

### The seasoned rider who wants a 125cc for the week

He rides all year round and has no use for a practice ride. Through the Form, he asks for a 125cc with a top case from Saturday to Saturday, with his hotel and the date on his license. You check that a 125cc is free all week, then get back to him.

### The friends off the 9 am ferry

Five friends step off the boat at 9 am to rent four scooters until the next evening; their request went out the week before. The app's map leads them from the dock to the shop. The two who have never ridden booked 9:20 and 9:40, while the others sign the contracts.

## What scooter rental shops ask us before summer

**### My customer has never ridden a scooter: what should I offer?**

The 20-minute practice ride, booked in the app before they take the keys: starting, braking, turning and stopping smoothly, in your parking lot rather than at the first traffic circle. If they still hesitate afterwards, suggest the 50cc instead of the 125cc, or a second slot the next day. The final word on whether they ride off is still yours.

**### Can someone book a specific scooter for a week?**

Not in the booking section: it opens slots within a single day and knows nothing about a scooter gone for seven days. Rentals are requested through the Form: dates, model from a drop-down list, number of scooters, hotel. Each request reaches you by email; you check your schedule, then confirm.

**### Where do I post the license and age requirements?**

In a "Rental terms" article, placed in the menu next to the request Form. These are your rules, set according to those of your country; the app shows them exactly as you write them. Add a required "I have read the rental terms" checkbox to the Form: no request goes out without it.

**### Can customers leave the deposit in the app?**

No. Neither a deposit nor a card hold nor any payment goes through the app: all of that is settled at the shop, at pickup, in whatever form you accept. The app only states the amount and the accepted methods, so customers arrive with what they need.

**### What do riders find if they break down?**

Your number, which the contact page dials in one tap, and a "Breakdown or fall" article: pull off the road, put the scooter on its stand, check the fuel gauge, then call you. After a fall with an injury, emergency services come first. For an empty tank, the gas stations are on the map.

**### Does the app track the scooters?**

No. It locates neither the scooters nor the riders. Its map only holds points that stay put: the shop, scooter parking near the beaches, gas stations, lookouts along the coast. A tracker fitted to your scooters works with its own tool, with no link to the app.

**### How do I announce the start of the season?**

Put the practice ride hours back into the section, then send a push notification: "Scooters serviced, the shop reopens Saturday at 9 am." It reaches everyone who has kept the app since last summer, or only those on the island who share their location.
