iOS & iPhone app builder

# The iOS app builder for native iPhone and iPad apps

You design the app in your browser. GoodBarber compiles it in Swift: a native app for iPhone and iPad, not a web app in a shell.

No code, no developer. Your app goes on the App Store under your own Apple Developer account, so the app and its users stay yours. Together, GoodBarber apps are downloaded more than 25,000 times a day, App Store and Google Play combined.

You design the app and own it. GoodBarber builds it in Swift.

## Three ways to get an iOS app

A no-code builder, your own code, or your website in an app shell. Each path has its place; here is what changes for an iPhone app.

| What matters | GoodBarber | Code it yourself | Wrap a website (WebView) |
| -------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------- |
| Skills and team | You, in your browser. No developer | iOS developers, in house or at an agency | A mobile website, plus a wrapper tool |
| Time to a first version | Your content sets the pace; Apple's review adds a few days | Every screen and the back end, built and tested from scratch | Quick, once your mobile site works well |
| App Store review | Native screens, plus an optional review by our team before Apple's | Your team learns and follows Apple's guidelines | Apple asks for more than a repackaged website |
| Keeping up with new iOS versions | GoodBarber updates the engine; you publish an update | Your developers update and retest the code | Depends on the wrapper's vendor |
| Cost of the whole stack | One subscription, with hosting, back office and push included | Developers, plus hosting, a back end and a push service | The wrapper, plus your site's hosting and CMS |
| Design | Your own design, on native iOS screens | Full control: anything you can design and build | Your mobile site, inside an app shell |

Code it yourself when the app is the product: a game, a marketplace that matches buyers and sellers, heavy custom logic. GoodBarber does not build games; it is made for content apps and mobile commerce.

## From idea to the App Store, in four steps

01

### Design your app

Start from a layout, then set your colors, fonts, icon and navigation. The design system keeps spacing and type consistent on every screen, iPhone and iPad included.

You build in your browser, on any computer. A Mac comes in at the very end, for one task: uploading the app to Apple yourself.

100+

layouts to start from, styled to your brand

02

### Add your content and features

Publish articles, videos, podcasts, events and maps from the back office, or connect the sources you already use. New content shows up in the app without a new App Store review.

Then add what your audience needs from 190+ extensions, such as a members' area or subscriptions to your premium content, paid through the App Store.

30,000

push notifications a month, included in the Premium plan

03

### Test it on your iPhone

While you build, the free My GoodBarber app shows the native version of your app on your own iPhone.

When the real build is ready, you and your testers can install it with Apple's TestFlight, before the public release.

15 min

about the time it takes to compile your iOS build online

04

### Publish on the App Store

The app goes out under your own Apple Developer account, in your name or your company's: Apple wants an app submitted by whoever owns its content. Publish it yourself with our step-by-step guide, or hand it to our optional [publishing service](https://www.goodbarber.com/app-publishing-service/).

Of the first iOS submissions our publishing team handled over the last 12 months, Apple rejected about 42%; 91% of those apps were accepted once the team stepped in (April 2026).

$55

a month, billed yearly, for iOS, Android and the web version (Premium plan)

## Publishing on the App Store: who does what

### What GoodBarber handles

- The native iOS build, compiled online and ready for Apple
- A step-by-step guide, if you publish the app yourself
- Or, with our optional publishing service: a check against Apple's guidelines
- Then certificates, upload and submission, from your Apple account
- And if Apple rejects the app, the reason explained and the app resubmitted

### What you handle

- An Apple Developer account in your name: 99 USD a year, paid to Apple
- For a company, a D-U-N-S number: Apple's checks can take several days
- Your App Store texts and screenshots (our team can make the screenshots)
- A Mac, if you upload the app to Apple yourself
- Your content, and any change or document Apple asks for

## Making an iPhone app: your questions

What people ask before they put an app on the App Store.

**Publishing on your own?**

The help center walks you through each step, from the Apple account to the submission.

What does an iOS app maker like GoodBarber actually build?

A native iOS app. GoodBarber generates a native binary compiled in Swift, not a web app in a shell, and the same back office builds the Android app in Kotlin and a web version. Our [native technology page](https://www.goodbarber.com/native/technology/) explains how it works.

Do I need a Mac to make an iPhone app?

Not to build it: with GoodBarber, you design the app in your browser and it is compiled online, so any computer will do. You need a Mac to upload the app to Apple yourself, with Apple's Transporter app; with our [publishing service](https://www.goodbarber.com/app-publishing-service/), our team does the upload for you.

Do I need an Apple Developer account, and what does it cost?

Yes: you need your own Apple Developer account to build, test and publish a GoodBarber iOS app, even if our team publishes it for you. Apple requires an app to be submitted by whoever owns its content, so the account is in your name or your company's. A company needs an Organization account, with a D-U-N-S number, and Apple's verification can take several days, so enroll early. The membership costs 99 USD a year, paid to Apple, and one account can publish several apps.

How long does App Store review take, and what if Apple rejects the app?

Apple reviews most apps within 48 hours, by its own figures; for a first submission, plan for a few days, up to a week. If Apple rejects the app, our optional publishing service reads the reason, tells you what to change and resubmits; if you publish on your own, you answer Apple, and our support team can help. Of the first iOS submissions our publishing team handled over the last 12 months, Apple rejected about 42%, and 91% of those were accepted after the team stepped in (April 2026).

Does my app work on iPad too?

Yes. GoodBarber's Premium and Pro plans include one universal iOS app that runs on iPhone and iPad, built from the same back office. To publish it for iPad, you add iPad screenshots to your App Store listing. The web version of the same app opens in any browser, on a computer too.

Can I sell subscriptions in my iPhone app?

Yes, for access to your content. With [in-app purchases](https://www.goodbarber.com/extensions/in-app-purchase/), your users subscribe monthly or yearly through the App Store to unlock your premium content; Apple keeps its 15 to 30% cut, and GoodBarber takes no commission. It is a paid extension on the Premium plan, included in the Pro plan, for Content apps. In-app purchases do not sell physical products, bookings or classes.

How much does it cost to make an iPhone app with GoodBarber?

Native iOS apps start with the Premium plan, which also includes the Android app, the web version, hosting and push notifications; its current price is on the [pricing page](https://www.goodbarber.com/pricing/). Add 99 USD a year, paid to Apple, for the developer account; our publishing service is optional and paid per publication. You can design your app and test it on your iPhone during the 30-day free trial, with no credit card, and subscribe when you are ready to publish.
