Creating your first app without being a developer: Steffen's feedback

on

Creating an application is often perceived as a complex project, reserved for developers or highly technical profiles. However, some creators simply set out with an idea in mind... and a lot of questions.

It was during an exchange with the support team that we discovered Steffen Trawinski's story. In developing his first app with GoodBarber, Steffen wanted to share his experience, precisely to help others overcome their doubts and project themselves more serenely into the creation of an application.

With no prior development experience, he designed and published TalkBoost , now available on the App Store
(and could just as easily be offered on Google Play, thanks to GoodBarber technology).

In this interview, Steffen talks about his background, motivations and feedback.

Interview

GoodBarber: First of all, could you tell us a little about yourself?
Steffen: My name is Steffen Trawinski and I live in northwest Germany. After graduating from high school, I studied administrative management, and I've been working for over 20 years in various functions related to this field.

My professional experience has always been limited to the use of standard software. On a personal level, however, I've long been interested in the potential of technology. I find it fascinating to see how applications can offer almost infinite possibilities for simplifying and enriching our daily lives.

The idea of TalkBoost had been in the back of my mind for some time, and when I came across GoodBarber while investigating the feasibility of the project, I decided to take the plunge and realize my dream of creating my own application.
Let's talk about TalkBoost: what inspired you to create this application?
I'm a very sociable person and enjoy spending time with friends and family. I've known most of the people around me for decades, so I also know a lot of their stories - sometimes funny, sometimes emotional.

But what happens when you feel you've already told each other everything? When, for example, on a weekend with friends, the topics run out on the second night and boredom starts to set in?

That's exactly where TalkBoost comes in. The application offers a wide range of discussion cards, guaranteeing stimulating exchanges and new discoveries. The main aim is to have fun.

During development, I added other elements, such as small games and challenges, to add variety. The result is an application that makes conversations more interesting and entertaining in different situations.
Had you already created an app or website before launching GoodBarber?
TalkBoost is my very first experience as an app developer - and more broadly in this field.

Before that, I'd never been involved in creating applications or setting up websites. So I started as a complete beginner.

Thanks to GoodBarber's intuitive navigation and excellent support, I was able to overcome every difficulty. With the help of artificial intelligence, I even managed to program some elements of the application myself.
How did you discover GoodBarber, and what convinced you to use the platform for your project?
When I was researching the feasibility of TalkBoost, GoodBarber quickly emerged as one of the leading providers of app creation solutions.

I was immediately convinced by the quality of the templates offered for different app formats, as well as by the platform's ease of use.

The wide range of functions, which can be easily integrated into one's own application, was also a decisive argument. Looking back, I can say that this proved to be the right choice.
How would you sum up your creative experience with GoodBarber?
GoodBarber supported me in a very structured and progressive way, step by step, throughout the creation and publication of my application.

I was amazed at how complex a project like this can be, and how many aspects need to be taken into account. In this respect, GoodBarber's well thought-out structure and numerous aids are particularly valuable.

In the most demanding situations, the support above all helped me to stay motivated and overcome obstacles, particularly during the blind submission process, which I found particularly difficult.

What started out as a smartphone idea eventually turned into an application developed entirely on a small screen. Maybe I just wanted to prove to myself that it was possible; maybe I wanted to be able to work on it spontaneously, wherever I was. Whatever the case, with GoodBarber, it's possible - and even enjoyable.
What advice would you give to someone still hesitating to create their own app?
Believe in your idea, persevere and enjoy every step you take.

Along the way, I've had doubts and moments when I've considered giving up: is it really worth it? Why isn't it working as planned? How can I solve this problem?

I've learned that all challenges can be overcome if you keep a clear goal in mind. It's essential to know how to motivate yourself.

And I can tell you: seeing your own app available on the stores and used by other people is more than worth all the effort.

From idea to published app

Steffen's story shows that there's no such thing as a typical app creator. With no prior technical experience, he was able to transform a personal idea into a concrete app, published on the stores, step by step, with the support of GoodBarber.

This is the very essence of our platform: to give creators from a wide range of backgrounds access to technologies often perceived as the preserve of specialized teams, without sacrificing quality or support.
