What's new at Goodbarber? January 2019

This year we started strongly with the release of a new back office version: GoodBarber 4.7
 

GoodBarber 4.7 main goal is CMS (Content Management System) improvement. In the version 4.7 , CMS was designed for a smooth, efficient content management, no matter the content volume of the app.

We’ve also implemented a new way to preview your app. With the idea in mind to keep a visually clean interface, only the smartphone format is available from the back office. If you want to preview your app in all the available formats  (mobile, tablet or desktop) click on the preview link (top right).

You’re already enjoying all the benefits of GoodBarber 4.7 but if you are interested in learning more about this new version, don’t hesitate to read this article .

iOS native apps

  • Home section

    • In Navigation widgets template Big Carousel, fixed an issue that caused a crash when no link were set.

  • Article section

    • Fixed an issue that caused the text font size chosen in the back office not applied in the detail view.

    • Fixed an issue that caused the selected tab hidden in the circle band categories template.

    • In detail view, <video> HTML tags will now open the video in the native video player.

    • A scroll animation has been added when swiping between categories.

PWAS

  • General

    • Now the “Helvetica neue Roman” font is properly handled.

    • The user experience has been improved by putting the Cookie consent view at the bottom of the screen instead of the top of the screen.

    • In header, fixed an issue that caused the header overlapping device status bar. This issue was happening on iOS iPad devices when the app was installed on Home screen.

  • Article section

    • Fixed an issue that caused impossible to swipe between categories from the item lists.

    • In list template 5, fixed a display issue on Firefox browser.

  • Video section

    • Fixed an issue that caused impossible to swipe between categories from the item lists.

    • In list template 5, fixed a display issue on Firefox browser.

  • Photo section

    • Fixed an issue that caused impossible to swipe between categories from the item lists.

  • Map section

    • Fixed an issue that caused the background color of the detail view not applied.

    • Fixed an issue that caused the view not clickable anymore after some animations.

    • Fixed an issue that caused a 404 redirection when it was impossible to get the song metadatas.    

  • Authentication add-on

    • The core engine has been updated to Angular 7.

    • In profile section, fixed an issue that caused the view not clickable anymore after some animations.

    • Now any space characters are forbidden in passwords.

    • In the sign-up view, fixed an issue that caused an error message displayed while the registration was successful.

    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the profile section locked with un “authorized” screen.

    • In the sign-up view, now the click on the “Accept terms” checkbox label triggers the opening of the terms view, instead of ticking the checkbox.

    • In profile section, fixed an issue that caused the profile picture update not working in some cases.

  • Chat add-on

    • Fixed an issue that caused a conversation still displayed while it was deleted.

  • Loyalty card add-on

    • Fixed an issue that caused impossible the punch validation when the “share” method was chose. This issue was only happening on PWA iOS installed on Home screen.

  • Other fixes and improvements

    • Now links to PDF file always open the browser when the PWA is installed on Home Screen. This has been made in order to prevent cases where the user can’t go back to the app after the PDF file opening.

    • We now properly display a pointer cursor on buttons in Internet Explorer 11 & Edge browsers.

    • Fixed an issue on views with “infinite” scroll on Internet Explorer 11 browser.

    • Fixed an issue that caused the iOS prompt install to Home screen not displayed when the SMS push notifications dialog was displayed before.

Plugins

  • gbGetUser() method

    • On Android, fixed an issue that caused the method not working when the user had a specific character in his description.

  • getLocation() method

    • On PWA, fixed an issue that caused the method not working on some devices.

Your Twitch live streams and videos, now in your app

The short version. Twitch is an extension of GoodBarber, the no-code app builder, that adds a Twitch channel as the source of a Video section. When the channel is live, the stream sits at the top of the section; the rest of the time, the section lists the channel's videos. You connect it once, with a Client ID and a Client Secret from Twitch's developer console. It is free for Content apps: each section counts as one of the extensions included in your plan.The audience is on Twitch. In September 2026, viewers watched 1.51 billion hours of live streams there, with 2.1 million people watching at any given moment on average, according to TwitchTracker. Here is how the extension plays out for a creator who goes live every Tuesday at 8 pm.

Turn documents into answers with GoodBarber Chatbot

In any app, publishing a useful document is only part of the job. People also need to find the right information when they are about to act. A clearly named file helps someone browsing a library, but a reader may arrive with a more immediate question.Employee communication is only one possible application. The same approach can support learning resources, member guides, technical references or any other useful documents shared through an app. For our example, consider a colleague trying to book a client trip who needs to know:Which travel expenses need prior approval?We have added document sources to GoodBarber Chatbot so that the files you already maintain can support these conversations. You select the documents. Users ask in their own words. The assistant looks for relevant passages and uses them to build a response.The question becomes a way into the policy. Employees can start with the decision in front of them, even when they do not know the title of the document that explains it.

Siri Actions: ask your GoodBarber iOS app for its latest article or video

Siri Actions now answers two new questions: the latest article and the latest video in a section of a GoodBarber iOS app. Siri names the item and offers to open it by voice. They reach every app with its next store update. Siri Actions is the set of questions a GoodBarber iOS app answers out loud, for newspapers, radio stations, schools, organizations and any app that publishes content. Its first question, "What's new", gives an overview of your home screen. When we launched it in September 2026, we said the next one would be the latest article in a section. Here it is, and the latest video comes with it. Each goes straight to one item and offers to open it. Your audience goes from a question to the article in a single conversation, without searching for it.
