From the first session to the student's regular day

Booking is for getting started and for adding a session before a test; the student's regular weekly time is agreed in person.
  1. A parent books a first session

One evening, the parent opens the app, picks the section for their child's level, then a free slot. The form asks for the grade, the subject and what the child is struggling with right now. That first hour shows you where the student stands and what needs work.
  2. You agree on a regular day together

If the student keeps going, you and the family settle on a weekly time, say Tuesdays at 5 pm. Take that hour out of your sections' open hours: the app stops offering it to anyone, and the parents have nothing left to book.
  3. Before finals, review Saturdays

As end-of-year exams get close, open your Saturdays, extend your booking window and tell every family with a push notification. Regular students and newcomers alike then book their review sessions in the app.

Parents are the ones who book

Elementary, middle school, high school: one section per level, each with its own session length

For an elementary or middle school student, the parent is the one who opens the app, on their own phone. They choose the section for the right level: 45 minutes for elementary school, one hour for middle school, an hour and a half for high school. All three sections are linked to the same Google Calendar: a high school session booked at 5 pm makes the middle and elementary school slots that overlap it unavailable. The form asks for the grade, the subject, the sticking point (fractions, essay writing, Spanish conversation) and where the session takes place. The confirmation goes by email to the parent and to you; in your calendar, the session's event repeats those answers.

Only the hours after the school bell

5 to 7:30 pm on weekdays, Saturday mornings, early-release afternoons, and nothing else

Set your opening hours day by day: from 5 pm on weekdays, from 1:30 pm on Wednesdays if schools in your area let out early that day, and 9 am to noon on Saturdays. To get from one home to the next, split the evening of your middle school section, with its one-hour sessions, into two ranges: 5 to 6 pm, then 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The half hour in between is your travel time. A minimum notice that rules out same-day bookings gives you time to prepare the chapter requested. Close fall break or winter break day by day, as exceptional closures, unless you run a review week then: in that case, leave those days open, and each session of that week is booked one at a time.

Two or three tutors, one calendar each

Math with Thomas, English with Ines: each session lands with the tutor who teaches it

Sharing the app with one or two colleagues? Each of you has your own booking sections, linked to your own Google Calendar: math and physics with Thomas, English and Spanish with Ines. Parents pick the subject first, which leads them to the right tutor, then a free hour. On the evening Ines attends parent-teacher conferences at the high school where she teaches, she blocks it off in Google Calendar on her phone, and the app immediately stops offering those hours.

What families read before they book

Subjects and grade levels

Math from fifth grade through senior year, middle school English, Spanish through high school, English as a second language for adults: who teaches what, and to whom.

Your area, on a map

The neighborhoods and towns you travel to, each with a pin in a Map section; farther out, the session happens at your place or by video call.

What the student gets ready

The subject notebook, the textbook, the last graded test and the exercises that caused trouble: the list to read before the first session.

Your rates

Your hourly rate by level, any travel fee, paid per session or by the month, outside the app: a page you update at the start of each school year.

Cancellation terms

How late families can cancel before a session is still owed: write down your rule. The app frees the slot but bills nothing; your rule applies outside it.

How much does a private tutoring app cost?

Publishing the app under your name in both stores takes the Premium plan, plus the Appointment booking option; the Pro plan already includes it. The Standard plan, which only produces a web version, has no booking. CMS Map, Form, CMS Contact and Push notifications cost nothing extra.
Premium · your app in both stores, with its web version$55 /month, billed annually
Appointment booking: the option to add to Premium$15 /month
Pro · booking already included$105 /month, billed annually
Not part of your plan: the developer accounts you open and pay for yourself with Apple and Google.

Private tutoring: your questions about the app

Who books: the student or the parents?

For a child, the parent: they install the app, book from their phone and receive the confirmation email, with a link to cancel. A high school student can book on their own; in that case, add a field to the form for a parent's phone number. An adult working on their English books for themselves.

How do I open only after-school slots?

In each section, opening hours are set day by day: late afternoons Monday through Friday, Saturday mornings, and Wednesday afternoons where schools let out early. No other hour shows up in the app. If you also teach adults in the morning, give them a separate section with its own hours, linked to the same calendar.

Lea comes every Tuesday at 5 pm: do her parents have to book each week?

No, they have nothing to do. No booking repeats on its own in the app: take Tuesday 5 to 6 pm out of your sections' hours, and that hour will never be offered to another family. If Lea switches to Thursdays in January, reopen Tuesday and close Thursday.

I tutor in students' homes: how do I limit my area?

The app doesn't screen addresses: a family outside your area can book like anyone else. So show your area in a Map section, with a pin per neighborhood or town, and ask for the address in the form. If a session falls too far away, call the family to suggest a lesson at your place or by video, or cancel it: a cancellation email goes to the family, and the hour opens up again.

How do I fill my Saturdays before finals?

A few weeks ahead, add Saturdays to your sections' hours and extend your booking window, from two to six weeks for example, so families lock in dates before exams. Then schedule a push notification to all families: review Saturdays are open. Once exams are over, go back to your school-year hours.

Can a parent pay for a session through the app?

No: booking takes no payment and no deposit. Families pay you as they do today, per session or by the month, by check, cash or bank transfer; your prices and terms are on a page of the app. The Memberships extension doesn't sell lessons either: it only unlocks content, such as practice worksheets.

Can I tutor over video?

Yes, but the app doesn't host the video call. It books the time; you then send the meeting link from the tool you already use. Add the question "Where is the session: at the student's home, at your place, or online?" to the form so you know in advance.
