The paywall, feature by feature

Quick destination guides open, long reads for subscribers

Your “48 hours in…” guides bring readers in; the long reads, the road-tested itineraries and the address books are for subscribers. On a reserved feature, readers see the opening paragraphs you choose, then the invitation to subscribe, monthly or yearly, through their Apple or Google account.

The newsroom asks, the app runs

GoodBarber's MCP server links your app with the assistant your team already works with

“Publish the Lisbon feature in Destinations, add its six addresses to the map and schedule the push for Saturday at 9.” Claude or ChatGPT prepares each action, shows it to you and waits for your go-ahead before running it on your app. The same assistant tells you which features were read most last month. Layout and design stay in the GoodBarber back office.

Every address, on the map

The places named in your features become points readers can find

The café in the Porto feature, the guesthouse from the Dolomites special, the night market in Taipei: each address becomes a point on the map, with a line naming the feature it comes from. Readers traveling in the area find your recommendations and open the route in their maps app.

Traveling with children

A family section, left open to win new readers

Beaches with shallow water, museums that welcome toddlers, trains rather than long drives: a family section gathers what parents look for, with tags by age. Keep it open to everyone to draw in new readers, or reserve its best guides for subscribers.

The print magazine going digital

Its print subscribers get an app subscription gifted from the back office, and new readers subscribe in the app.

The independent travel blog

Its archive stays free; new long reads, with their address books, are reserved for subscribers.

The creator who films more than they write

When video is at the heart of the work, the app for travel vloggers is a better fit.

Three travel titles, three ways to use the app

What's your title? Open the app, put a few features in it and try the whole thing free for a month; nobody asks for a card.

Around your features

Ads for free readers

Your internal ad server or Google AdMob shows ads; one option hides them for subscribers.

Readers' questions

The Chatbot finds its answers in your articles and your map points; readers without a subscription only hear from the open content.

Scheduled publishing

Features go live on the day and at the time you set.

Bookmarks

Readers save the guide they will need on the trip.

Comments

Readers add their own tips under the features, with moderation.

A web version

Free features also open in the browser, where search engines find them.

How much does a travel magazine app cost?

Reserving features for subscribers requires the native apps: the Premium plan plus Memberships, or the Pro plan, which comes with Memberships. The MCP server costs nothing more; the subscription to your AI assistant stays yours.
Premium · iOS and Android apps, web version$55 /month, billed yearly
Memberships, with Premium$49 /month
Pro · Memberships and higher allowances$105 /month, billed yearly
On subscriptions, the App Store and Google Play keep their commission, 15% in most cases; GoodBarber none. The stores bill the developer accounts.

Travel magazine app: questions from editors

Can the AI assistant publish without our approval?

No: it shows each action before running it, and you confirm. It only acts on your app, the one belonging to the account that signed in.

Which assistants can we connect?

Claude, ChatGPT or any client that speaks the MCP protocol. GoodBarber doesn't sell those subscriptions and takes nothing on their use.

Can our print subscribers read in the app?

Not automatically: a subscription sold in the app goes through Apple or Google, which know nothing about your print readers. In the back office, you can open a free subscription for each of them, ending on the date you set.

Can the family travel section stay free?

Yes: the choice is made one article at a time. Keeping family guides open draws parents in; reserve the long reads instead.

How many features do we need before selling subscriptions?

Ten reserved pieces at least; a travel magazine's back catalog usually covers that on day one.

How much does a travel magazine app cost?

Premium plus Memberships, or Pro with Memberships already in it. The MCP server is included at no extra cost.
