The season's program, by level
Easy: 1,300 ft of elevation gain
Three hours on foot to a lake or an alpine meadow, with frequent breaks: the family outing, open to children from the age you set.
Moderate: a full day to the pass
About 2,600 ft of climbing and six hours on the trail, with a packed lunch: hikers need some mountain experience, and the page says so plainly.
Strenuous: the summit, with a dawn start
Over 3,600 ft, scree slopes, a steady pace from start to finish: for fit hikers, and you ask each one about their recent outings.
Intro to climbing

The private outing, booked by the family
A custom half day or full day, with no other group on the trail
A family on vacation wants to hike at their own pace, with the kids, without waiting for Saturday's group hike. They open "Private outing, half day" or "Private outing, full day", then pick a date and start time. The form asks for the number of hikers, their ages, their level in a few words and a backup date in case the weather turns. The confirmation email reaches them and you, and the outing lands in your Google Calendar. Both sections share that calendar: a full day booked on August 12 takes that morning's half day off the app, and vice versa.
Early starts, from June to October
Your time ranges follow the mountain: early mornings, never on group days
Half days open at 7:30 a.m. and full days at 8 a.m.: you set off early to get down before the heat and the afternoon storms. Your group hike days, say Wednesday and Saturday, have no private time ranges, and neither does your day off. Keep the booking window short, three weeks, since neither the snow on the passes in June nor the weather can be forecast further out; 12 hours' minimum notice leaves you the evening to read the forecast. At the end of the season, remove the section's time ranges, then reopen them in late May.
Hiking with you, climbing with your colleague
Two professionals, each with their own Google Calendar
You lead the hikers; your climbing instructor colleague runs the intro sessions at the crag and the via ferrata. In the app, your two private outing sections stay on your Google Calendar, and the "Intro to climbing with Lea" section is plugged into hers. Lea is running a three-day course in another range? She adds it to her calendar, and those three days disappear from her section. Since the form is shared across the whole app, an optional "height and shoe size" field serves the climbers without bothering the hikers.

Describe the section to the AI Extension Builder: "a gear checklist, different for the easy hike, the day to the pass and the via ferrata". Hikers pick their outing and check off boots, water, windbreaker and headlamp as they pack; the list stays on their phone. For the via ferrata, it says whether harness and lanyards are provided, according to your terms.

The Chatbot reads your outing pages to answer: elevation gain, duration, exposed sections, the age you recommend. It cites the page it used, so the parent can check. It doesn't replace your judgment: a child you have never seen hike is yours to assess, over the phone.

What hiking guides ask before building their app
Can hikers book a spot on Saturday's group hike?
No. One booking takes the whole slot: the first person to sign up would get Saturday's hike to themselves, and the other eleven spots would stay closed. The group hike is announced in the program, and sign-ups go through a Form: name, number of hikers, ages, phone number. You confirm each sign-up and keep count of the spots.
How does a family book a private outing?
The family opens the section for the length they want, picks the date and time, then fills in the form; the confirmation email reaches both sides. If they need to cancel, they do it from the app or the link in their email, and the slot opens up again. A two-day traverse with a night in a mountain hut, on the other hand, doesn't fit in a slot: it's requested through the Form.
How do I announce the night before that an outing is canceled?
After the evening forecast, send a push notification: "Storms expected from noon: the pass hike is canceled, the lake hike leaves at 7 a.m." It goes to the whole app or, if your hikers have accounts (Authentication and User groups), only to this week's group. For a private outing, close the day in its section: the booking is canceled and the family gets an email.
Can I offer intro climbing sessions in the same app?
Yes. Your instructor colleague has an "Intro to climbing" section, linked to their Google Calendar, with half days at the beginner crag; their pages and gear list join the program. Climbers book with them, hikers with you, in the same app. Supervision terms are yours to set, under the rules of your country.
Where do I publish the gear list?
At the end of each outing page: hiking boots, water, windbreaker, headlamp; for the via ferrata, helmet, harness and lanyards, lent or not according to your terms. So hikers can check it off while packing, add the interactive list built with the AI Extension Builder.
Can hikers pay for the outing in the app?
No: not a private outing, not a spot on a group hike, not a deposit. Payment works as it does today, at the trailhead parking lot or by bank transfer, according to your terms. Your rates belong on each outing page: nothing about price appears when hikers book.
Does the app track the group on the mountain?
No. The app doesn't locate anyone: no hiker positions, no live track. Its map shows fixed places, the trailhead parking lot, the hut, the lake, with driving directions to the start of the trail. During the outing, you lead the group with your usual means of communication.

Private outings and climbing sessions run on Appointment booking: an extra on Premium that Pro already includes. Outing pages live in CMS Articles, group hike sign-ups in the Form, trailhead parking lots on CMS Map, and the night-before call goes out through Push notifications. On the AI side, the packing list costs nothing; the Chatbot is paid.
