“Why is the sea salty?”

Readers' questions become your best stories

A Form section invites readers to send their question, with a photo if they want to show an insect or an odd cloud. Each submission reaches you by email. You pick the best ones and answer them in articles in a “Your questions” section; the automatic push tells readers when it is out, and the person who asked sees their curiosity turned into a story.

One section per discipline

From living things to climate, locked or open features

Sort your articles the way readers look for them: physics, biology, environment, space, health, computing. Each article is open or reserved; on a reserved feature, non-subscribers read the beginning, up to the paragraph you choose. Diagrams, photos and charts sit in the text, where they help understanding.

Videos that explain

Filmed experiments and animations, reserved or free

Upload your videos to a video section of the app: the candle that goes out under a glass, the animation of a dividing cell. Reserve them for subscribers or leave a few free to spark interest. Bandwidth is not billed; the files use your plan's storage.

Article, uploaded video, YouTube video: what each allows

Three formats for explaining science, three behaviors in the app.

AI for science outreach

Three practical uses, with their price.
To answer

A Chatbot that cites your articles

It answers “Do bees sleep?” from your texts, replying in whatever language the reader used and linking the articles behind the answer; non-subscribers only get answers drawn from free articles.
$35/month
To experiment

A falling-objects simulator

Picture a section where you pick a height and a planet to see how long a fall takes: described in a few sentences in the back office, the AI Extension Builder builds it and adds it to the app.
Free
To measure

What works, asked of Claude

Once linked to the app via MCP, your AI assistant looks up your statistics: “which features were read most this month?”. You know what to explore further.

More for curious minds

Search across every feature

One word, “photosynthesis” or “black hole”, and the articles appear.

Bookmarks

Readers keep a feature to finish later.

Guest researchers

Each author signs their articles, with their name at the top.

Scheduled releases

The eclipse article comes out that very morning.

Pricing for a popular science app

Premium publishes the app in the stores. To sell the subscription, add Memberships to it; the Pro plan already includes it. The form, push and videos come included, within your plan's storage.
Premium · iOS and Android apps plus web app$55 /month, billed yearly
Memberships, added to Premium$49 /month
Pro · subscriptions included$105 /month, billed yearly
Every subscription pays the store's cut: usually 15%, or 30% at Apple during a subscriber's first twelve months unless you joined its small business program. Nothing goes to GoodBarber.

Popular science app: what people ask us

Can a video published on YouTube become subscribers-only?

No: a section fed by YouTube stays visible to everyone. To reserve a video, upload it to a video section of the app, then lock it.

We mostly cover biology and the environment: is this app right for us?

Yes. Create one section per theme (biodiversity, oceans, climate, urban ecology) and reserve the in-depth features for subscribers; the form collects your readers' field observations.

How many items do I need before launching the subscription?

Ten reserved items at minimum. Your web app needs to be live on its own domain name, and locked content opens to subscribers after the stores have reviewed the app.

Can a subscriber read on their computer?

Yes. They subscribe from the iPhone or Android app, and the same login then opens the web version in a browser; the web version itself only redirects to the stores for purchase.

Can we give access to a class or a science club?

Yes: in the back office, each account concerned can receive a gifted subscription, for the length you choose.

Which plan is needed?

You need Premium with its Memberships option, or Pro straight away. Standard, confined to the web app, rules out selling subscriptions.
