Many of you have enabled the social sharing options into your apps, and you're right! It's a very good way to encourage your users to spread the word about your app and your content. Since last week, the Android beta is opened on GoodBarber. You probably noted that new options have appeared in your backend: in expert mode, you can now upload a specific icon and a specific splash screen for your Android app. In order to set up properly the sharing options in your app, you need to set up a new parameter in the Facebook and Twitter apps you have already created. Here is a little summary of the modifications you have to apply to your social apps if you have already created them.

Thanks to all your feedbacks, here is the first Tuesday update of the Android engine. All the team has been working hard on Android this week. Next Tuesday we'll update both engines :)   So here is the changelog for this Tuesday update, for Android only:   - Bookmarks sections are now enabled - Custom sections are now enabled - GoodBarber statistics are now enabled - Bug fix: Images are now displayed correctly in the header - Bug fix: The template 6 in Article sections doesn't crash anymore - Bug fix: The opacity is now correct on all the toolbar buttons - Bug fix: Events dates are now correctly formatted - Bug fix: The first category filter of a section is now automatically selected - Bug fix: The Facebook login is now working correctly   Don't forget to re-build your app to apply these changes :)   You'll also have some work to setup properly your Facebook & Twitter apps now that your app is running on Android. Today, everyone is working hard in the GoodBarber team to open the beta for Android. If everything goes fine, you'll be able to test your app on your Android device tomorrow! So, this week the changelog for iPhone is a bit short, but you can understand why :) Changelog for this Tuesday update, for iPhone: - There is now a relaese to load more feature in the comments pages - It's now possible to use the token [COMMENTS] and [NBCOMMENTS] in the lists subtitles (Settings API) - The headers of Events sections show now the day of the week - Bug fix: the Events sections handle now correctly the absence of thumb - Bug fix: the Search Bar appears now correctly when a Circle Band categories template is set - Bug fix: the app doesn't crash anymore at launch when there is no connection - Bug fix: the app doesn't crash anymore when sharing the app in the Settings section Don't forget to rebuild your app to apply these changes… and prepare yourself to build your Android app!

Here we are, the Mobile World Congress began this morning. We met a lot of interesting people today! The team who took the boat yesterday evening from Ajaccio arrived in the late afternoon due to difficult weather conditions. But everyone is here now, and really excited! Tomorrow, we'll take a little more time to make an entire tour of the event, and prepare more focused blog posts. We'll focus on monetization, as we met a lot of ad networks at MWC, and on new devices. We'll try to take some more general pictures of the entire event. Here we are! At last, we managed to get to Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress! Not an easy task, due to the bad weather :/ For this trip, we splitted our team in two. Jerome and I took the plane this morning from Ajaccio by Lyon. Sebastien, Laurent, Jim & Mathieu took the boat this evenning to Marseille, and will drive tomorrow morning to BCN. There was snow this morning in Ajaccio, Corsica, and we were not sure that the plane could take off. The flight has been delayed more than two hours, but eventually everything went fine. We took our connecting flight in Lyon, and, we got to BCN :) This year, the event sounds awesone, and the new venue, Fira Gran Via, is far bigger than Fira Montjuic where it took place last years. Next week will be a big week for our team. For the third time, we are going to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It is a major event for the Mobile industry, from manufacturers to soft editors like us. It is held every year in February. For this edition, we have decided to make it the event of the year for GoodBarber. We will lauch officially GoodBarber 2 during the event. A lot of you have helped us with their feedbacks during the beta. Time has come to publish Beautiful Apps in the stores :) This year, we'll have a booth at the MWC. All the GoodBarber team was thrilled Wednesday morning when we brought the On'R award back at CampusPlex in Ajaccio.   Again, everybody thanks Philippe & Frédéric from Le Radio show!   You'll see that GoodBarber will be soon the best tool ever to create Beautiful Apps for radio stations :)

Le Radio show ended yesterday in Paris. These three days have been an opportunity for us to gather lots of ideas to improve GoodBarber, in order to make it the best solution for creating mobile applications for radio stations. This is also an opportunity to review the features available with GoodBarber for radios. Please note: we'll update this blog post as we go along so don't mind the publication date ;)

Yesterday, we had the suprise to discover that we was "nominés" for the On'R awards, in the "Innovative Service" category.   We won it this morning !   We would like to thank very much Philippe Chapot , Frédéric Brulhatour and the On'R awards' jury at Le Radio show . It's a great encouragement.   We came to this show to discover the radio world, and to imagine new features for GoodBarber.   We have now a big, big to-do list, and you will soon hear about it :)

Today was the first day of LeRadio show in Paris, where we are exhibiting the brand new GoodBarber until Tuesday. Here are some pictures of Jerome & Dominique on the GoodBarber booth :)

Today, we are at Radio Zest, in Paris. Radio Zest is a conference that is held before LeRadio show, where we'll have a booth until Tuesday. At Radio Zest, Jerome Granados presented how a beautiful app can help you to target a larger audience for your radio station in 5 simple ideas. Here are his slides :)

We know that those of you who have registered for the Beta Goodbarber V2 can't wait to try it out. But be aware that it's just as unbearable for the whole team because we really look forward to your first impressions! Announced by Jerome in his previous note, GoodBarber is almost ready to release its version 2. So what's best to announce and introduce it than participating in the essential annual meeting for companies and start-up of the web, Web '12. For those who do not know this event, Web'12 is three days of conference, demonstrations and meetings with giants such as Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, Google, ect. It's also where tomorrow's Internet is imagined. You understand that it is a very important event that we absolutely wanted to be part of.

As promised, this morning I spent some time touring the booths in search of innovations. I also had the opportunity to play with the new devices and test the quality of the products. Note: it’s impossible to test all the devices at the show, so I made a selection. The vast majority of phones and tablets presented at the Mobile World Congress are Android devices. As usual with this system, there are high and low quality devices.

On the second day at MWC I had a little more time to converse with some exhibitors. It’s not possible to meet them all, or to describe them all (the exhibition catalog is 300 pages long!), so my visits were focused on application monetization services. I briefly describe three of the most interesting below.

If we were car manufacturers or a car dealership, our annual event would be the auto show. But at GoodBarber, we make mobile apps, and the big annual event happens in Barcelona. Barcelona is the Mobile World Capital (until 2017), so it's the city that hosts the annual Mobile World Congress, a huge event for mobile professionals. When we take a look, nearly all sectors are represented: from the antenna manufacturer or foundries, from the application developer, to the operators or device manufacturers.

As promised a few weeks ago, here is the development plan that we’re bringing to GoodBarber. What you can expect: new content and design features, an interface with advanced customization for agencies, and the integration of new social features. There will be two major phases in 2012. Starting now, and until May, there will be a monthly growth: GoodBarber will evolve from the current V1.0 to V1.4. During the second half of 2012, we’ll start moving toward an ambitious V2.0, which we will discuss in due time. The evolution toward V1.4 will keep us busy during the next few months. The changes will focus on content (V1.1) and design (V1.2) features, advanced customization for agencies (V1.3), and social features (V1.4).

Some of you have noticed that something was wrong yesterday, Sunday, January 29th. We experienced a temporary system failure. Last week, we conducted changes to our server architecture in order to replace some of the material. Some of the hard drives that we installed were unfortunately defective and caused a system breakdown. Four new Intel 600 Go SSD (5 year guarantee) were simultaneously lost Sunday at 4:00 p.m. The system can support a loss of two disks at a time. This failure has had little or no effect on existing customers, but it has led to the loss of all subscriptions since our last system backup. As a result, the accounts for subscriptions placed after Friday at 1:55 p.m. have been lost. The same goes for certain changes to existing accounts. In addition to GoodBarber, we host two other products: a CMS and a videosite platform . We guarantee 99.9% availability for both. These two products account for nearly 200 million monthly page views for just over 2,500 clients. These numbers imply a strong and secure system architecture. We run routine security audits, and data loss is not a customary occurrence… We’re aware of the potential impact that an event of this magnitude could have on you.
