One chair, one barber, one calendar

Regulars book the barber who knows their fade

Each barber gets a booking section linked to their own Google Calendar. Karim works Tuesday to Saturday, so his section only opens on those days. If he books Thursday the 14th off in his Google Calendar, from his phone, the app stops offering that day. The guest barber who comes in on Saturdays has their own section, open that day only. Clients pick their barber first, then the time, so they always get the one who knows their cut.

Appointments and walk-ins, on the same day

You only open for booking the hours you want booked

A barbershop also lives on walk-ins. In each barber's section, open only the morning for booking, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for example, and keep the afternoon for whoever walks through the door. Slot length is set barber by barber: 30 minutes for the one who does cut after cut, 45 for the one whose clients almost all add a beard trim. A minimum notice of one hour stops an online client from grabbing, at the last minute, the chair someone on the bench is waiting for. Each slot takes one client, so someone who wants a cut and a hot-towel shave books two slots in a row. The client and the shop each receive a confirmation email as soon as the slot is booked.

What else your clients find in the app

The loyalty card

One stamp for each visit, scanned from a QR code at the chair, with the number of stamps and the reward you choose: a free beard trim, for example.

Club levels

With the Club card, a client who has filled several cards moves up a level, Silver then Gold, and each level has its perk: a free beard treatment, a pot of wax as a gift.

Each barber's cuts

A photo gallery per barber, with fades, tapers, line-ups and sculpted beards, so clients show a photo instead of describing the cut.

Prices

Haircut, beard trim, hot-towel shave, kids' cut: your price list on a page you update yourself.

Beard care

Short videos on oil, balm and keeping the lines sharp between two visits.

The shop in one tap

The call button, directions to the shop and the hours when clients can walk in without an appointment.

How much does a barbershop app cost?

A native iOS and Android app requires at least the Premium plan. Three options matter for a barbershop: Appointment booking, the Loyalty card and Authentication, which lets clients sign in and which the card requires. The Pro plan includes Appointment booking and Authentication; the Loyalty card stays an option. Hosting, updates and notifications are included. On the Standard plan, which only covers the web version, there is no store app, no Appointment booking and no loyalty card.
Premium · iOS, Android and web versions$55 /month, billed yearly
Appointment booking, with Premium$15 /month
Loyalty card, with Premium$8 /month
Authentication, with Premium$12 /month
Pro · Appointment booking and Authentication included$105 /month, billed yearly
On top of that: your Apple and Google developer accounts, paid directly to the stores.

Barbershop app: your questions

Which app should a barbershop choose?

An app named after your shop, published on the App Store and Google Play, where clients book with their barber, keep their loyalty card and look at everyone's cuts. GoodBarber builds it without code, along with a web version. It is not a point-of-sale system: it does not take payment for cuts, track your product stock or work out your barbers' commission.

Can a client always book with the same barber?

Yes. Each barber has their own section, with their days, hours and Google Calendar: clients open their barber's section and only see that barber's free slots. For a one-off absence, a single event in their Google Calendar closes the slots it covers, and each barber handles it from their phone, without access to the back office. A fixed day off is set once and for all in the opening days of their section.

How do we keep walk-ins?

By leaving those hours out of the section. Each day can have several time ranges open for booking, 9 a.m. to noon and 5 to 7 p.m. for example; in between, the chair stays free for walk-ins. If Friday is your big walk-in day, don't open it in the section at all. Show your walk-in hours in the app, so nobody makes the trip for nothing.

What about no-shows? Can we ask for a deposit?

Not in the app: booking a chair costs the client nothing up front, because nothing is charged at booking, neither the cut nor a deposit. Both the client and the shop get an email confirming the booking; a client who can't make it hands the slot back from the app or from the email, and someone else can take it. There is no automatic reminder before the appointment. A scheduled push notification to all your clients can restate the house rule: if you can't come, let us know.

How does the loyalty card get stamped?

With a QR code, at the chair: when the cut is done, the client scans the shop's QR code, printed from the back office, with the app and earns a stamp. You can also choose check-in within an area around the shop, and set a minimum delay between two stamps so one cut earns only one. Clients sign in to their account in the app: the card requires the Authentication extension. You set the number of stamps, the reward and its expiry date; clients follow their history in their profile, and you find the member list in the back office.

A chair frees up at 4 p.m.: how do we fill it?

Send an immediate push notification, "a free chair at 4 p.m. with Karim", to all your clients who have the app, or only to people within an area around the shop. Whoever is interested books that slot in Karim's section, if it is open for booking, or simply walks in. With Couponing, you can also offer a coupon for your quiet hours, with its validity dates and a limited number available.

Can we sell beard products in the app?

Not in this app: the content app has no cart. Present your oils, balms and waxes in articles, with their price and how to use them, and sell them at the counter. Online sales belong to another GoodBarber product, the eCommerce app.
