An app about children, set up like an app for children

Apps for Kids: one declaration in the back office, and the features the stores forbid switch off

Declare your app as an app for kids in the back office: GoodBarber follows the rules of Apple's Kids Category and Google Play's Designed for Families program, and turns off what they forbid, such as statistics, geolocation, sign-in with Facebook or X and external advertising. No personal data goes to third parties. The Apps for Kids extension is free, and there is no rule list for you to learn.

The vacation program, week after week

Activities, outings and the week's theme in the Agenda

Activities and outings go into the Agenda, one listing each: the day, the times, the age group, the place, what to pack in the bag. Parents have the week in front of them, save the farm trip in their own calendar and know what time the bus gets back. Menus and the week's news fit in an article.

Sign-ups by form, no paperwork

Chosen weeks, age group, contact details: everything lands in one place

The sign-up form asks your questions: the child's name and age, the weeks or days wanted, the parents' contact details, the people allowed to pick the child up. An email flags each sign-up, which you also find in the back office and in the CSV export. No place counter, no payment: you confirm and invoice as you do today.

The day's photos, for parents only

A photo journal that only the Parents group can open

Every evening, the team publishes the day's journal: a few lines and photos of the activities, in an article section closed to other users. Parents create their account in the app; once their child's sign-up is confirmed, your team adds them to the Parents group in the back office. A notification reserved for the group, “Photos from the lake trip are online”, only reaches registered families.

Setting up the app before the holidays: four steps

To do before sign-ups open.
  1. Declare the app for kids

Turn on the Apps for Kids extension: features the stores forbid are switched off.
  2. Publish the program

One event per activity or outing in the Agenda, with the age group.
  3. Open sign-ups

A form with your questions, linked to the inbox that will receive the sign-ups.
  4. Create the Parents group

Add the User groups option and Authentication, then reserve the photo section for the Parents group.

Budget for a kids' club app

A kids' app in the stores takes the Premium plan. Reserving the photo journal for parents adds Authentication and User groups, except on Pro, where they are already included. Nothing to pay for Apps for Kids or the Form.
Premium · a kids' app in the stores$55 /month, billed yearly
Authentication, an add-on to Premium$12 /month
User groups, an add-on to Premium$5 /month
Pro · both options already included$105 /month, billed yearly
Families pay for sign-ups as they do today, outside the app; Apple and Google each require a developer account, paid to them.

Kids' club app: questions from directors and towns

Does an app meant for parents need the Apps for Kids declaration?

If children use it too, to listen to the club's songs or watch the workshop videos again, declare it with Apps for Kids: it then follows the store rules for apps aimed at children. For an app only parents open, the declaration is not required; the choice is yours, and the extension is free.

Can we take payment for sign-ups in the app?

No. The form collects the request, with no payment; you confirm the place and invoice through your usual channels. No stay or day at the club is sold in the app.

Can each family see only the photos of their child's group?

Yes, with one group per age range or camp session, ages 3-5, ages 6-11, and a photo section reserved for each. A family with two children can belong to two groups.

Can we warn parents that the bus is running late?

Yes, with a push sent right away from the back office, to the Parents group or to everyone. Rely on these sends rather than on phone location: Apps for Kids turns off geolocation, and with it Geofencing and area-based sends.

How much does a kids' club app cost?

The Premium plan is needed for the stores; the parents' section adds Authentication and User groups, which Pro already contains. Apps for Kids, the Form and the Agenda cost nothing more.

Where are the children's photos hosted?

In Europe, where GoodBarber hosts its customers' data. Only the accounts you place in the Parents group open the section where they appear, and you can remove a photo at any time from the back office.
