This year's f8 conference was all about helping developers build, grow and monetize their apps. Facebook's main objective is to become a stable mobile platform for developers to build on top of.   I took the time to watch the keynote . It's a 1 hour video. If you have the time, go ahead, it's worth watching it. If you don't, I'll give here the main points covered.

Everyday, I'm in contact with people who have a WordPress site and want to turn it into a mobile app. It's not surprising since more than 19% of the web runs on WordPress   During the conversation, we always end up speaking about the best way to make this transformation, so I thought about sharing this with you in this blog post.

Recently, I fell upon a very interesting article written on Flurry's blog  about the decay of apps. Every app has a lifetime cycle where it reaches the top, and then monthly active users (MAU) start diminishing. Flurry focused on what happens after the peak ... and did you know what they discovered? News apps are decaying slower than other types of apps! Sounds good for you GoodBarbers, right?

Hi everyone!   My name is Guido and I just joined the GoodBarber’s team as an Android developer.    I come from Florence where I graduated in Engineering of Electronics. While studying for my two-years specialization course in Engineering Automation I started to develop Android on my own and fell in love with it. So I started to create my apps for my own pleasure. Recently I've started to develop Apple for curiosity and made some apps on my own. When I saw the GoodBarber's contest in Florence I said “why not?”. I tried.... And now I'm here! I’m very happy to be part of the team because I think we should always follow our passions as much as we can.   What am I doing at GoodBarber?   I’m here to help the team develop the Android Beautiful Apps engine.   What else?   I love music. I played in a band (Repleva ) in my home town as a guitarist and I like listening to live music. I enjoy playing soccer and volleyball. I like cooking, as well.

If you read carefully tuesday's update, you saw that we enabled Disqus comments on GoodBarber. Many of you had requested this feature, so we set aside our developments on GoodBarber 3 for a few hours, in order to bring this feature to GoodBarber 2. It's now ready to be used. Let me explain how to turn on Disqus comments into your app.

As you know, last week, we attended the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. Each year, the Mobile World Congress is the moment for us to showcase GoodBarber's new features. In 2013, we established a new standard in mobile app design by providing the most comprehensive set of designing option ever seen in an app builder. This year, we had the pleasure to demonstrate how to deliver an ultimate user experience using the last improvements of GoodBarber.

Big news today. Since yesterday's update, revision #1900, 2 new templates have landed in your back office. They are called Minimal color & Minimal photo. They have been designed for the article section and the video section.  It raises to 8 the number of templates you can choose to display a list of articles (or videos). But Minimals are a brand new kind of templates. As suggested by their name, they are sleek and simple. Let me show you how beautiful they are. With minimal photo and minimal color, no doubt you are going to create a stunning article or video section. 

Today, I propose you a simple maths exercise for your kids. It will let them play with figures and discover which platform, between iOS and Android, is more popular among non developers who create apps. It started this morning during a coffee break at the office. If you drop by one day, no doubt that you will attend passionate discussions between iOS and Android developers. Each team can argue that the platform they develop on is the best and why. But what about our users who are non-developers? Do they prefer iOS or Android? A quick look at our database can give you the answer to this question. So, let's play with data. If you have a kid aged between 7 and 8, you can solve the following exercise with him ;)

When you are considering how to make an app for iPhone, Android, or any other platform, you must add a killer splash screen if you want to ensure a good launch experience for your users. After all, the splash screen is the first image that is seen when your app is opened. So, let's review some tips that will help make your app a success, shall we?

Many of you are wondering if their app will become successful. In this Friday talk, I'll show you 4 KPIs you can track in order to see if you are on the path to success or not.

That's one of the great features that comes with GoodBarber Salvador. Every GoodBarber account has now a great web app, in addition to the native app for iPhone and the native app for Android! While the iPhone app is written in objective C, the Android app is written in java, this web app is written in HTML5. The web app runs on every browser, no matter the phone or the OS you use, that is to say that, now, your readers on Windows Phone or Blackberry can access your content from their mobile phone.  The web app is truly fantastic. It has the same look and feel as the native app. Our engineers made a great job because it was a big challenge to obtain such a result. Why? Because contrary to many app builders who run HTML5 apps encapsulated in a native shell, we decided to make the opposite. We looked at the native apps generated by GoodBarber and we ask our engineers to reproduce the same in HTML5. When you know GoodBarber's passion for native apps and the elaborated features and UX we provide in our apps, you assess the challenge :)

In this Tuesday update, we are still setting the stage for the launch of future big new features. I recommend to re-build your app only if you had some bugs. Otherwise, it's not necessary.

In this Tuesday update, bugs killing, flat design sneak peek, preparing Live+ section, ... and more. In fact, a lot of new features already available in the engine but that will be released in a couple of weeks.

During Google I/O 2013, some recent figures were given about Google Play.  48 billion apps installed from Google Play, 900 million Android activation, and soon, 1 million apps in the store. Looking at those huge figures, you may wonder how to make your app stand out from the crowd ? Here are some tips to help you highlight and promote your app in Google Play.

The team worked very hard to finish the Beautiful Apps Engine for Android as quick as possible. From now on, you can enjoy on your Android device almost all the features of GoodBarber. There is still work to be done. This is the reason why we say this is a beta. But you’ll see, the result is already fantastic! If you want, you can even submit your app on Google Play. If you do so, take the time to review your app before publishing. Hey, it’s a beta ;) Last thing, remember that every Tuesday, we update GoodBarber with new features. You’ll be able to publish a new version of your app on Google Play, in order to make it even more beautiful ;) Now, go to your backend and have fun !
